ORH has developed simulation models for the three emergency services: AmbSim, PolSim and FirSim. The models encompass the wide range of controllable and uncontrollable variables that together define each of the services. A few years of simulated time take a few minutes to run.
Input data are gathered to populate and validate the model:
- Incident distributions and frequencies
- Travel times and locations
- Resource deployments and call components
Model outputs include:
- Response time distributions by time and area
- Resource workload and utilisation
- Queuing and activation times
Preparing inputs and interpreting outputs requires close consultation with Service staff and sophisticated data analysis
techniques.
